O.K.! I’ve finally got around to telling you.
I wanted to tell you that at URBINCASA we never stop putting ideas into practice, those that arise from the brainstorming sessions that we have over coffee, but which, in our company are fortunately not forgotten, but rather, note is taken of them and then they are studied in case there might be any possibility of implementing them.
On one of these days, we were talking about the need to provide the construction sector with a reliable source of data that would enable us to forecast the housing demand ahead of time in such a way as to enable us to adjust the supply – the residences built – to the expected demand.
This is how the Real Estate Construction and Development Observatory of the region of Cartagena (OCICC) came about, decisively supported by the Builders’ Association of Cartagena and the UPCT (Polytechnic University of Cartagena), the latter always eager to lend its support to any project that aims to improve the competitiveness of the region’s companies.
On another occasion, on the subject of how to use the different premises and free spaces that the company had, based on the request from the Construction Division to be given them to conduct experiments, one of the coffee group proposed offering this space to the UPCT to conduct assays there as well.
This is how the germ of the Research Centre was sown which, in collaboration with the UPCT, aims to develop new systems of efficient energy as well as to test and develop new building processes and materials that contribute to the improvement of habitability during construction as well as the use of renewable energies and the improvement of the environment in the residences.
Concerned about safety measures to be taken during the building project, in collaboration with the Technological Construction Centre, we are looking at a prototype that can protect workers from falling when cementing walls.
In addition we have also proposed to the Regional Ministry of the Environment of the Autonomous Community that it collaborate with us in the compilation of a practical manual of environmental measures to be taken throughout the construction process, embracing all aspects from the designing of the building, done by the architects, to measures to be applied by the end user while not forgetting energy saving and waste recycling measures during construction.
As you can see, it is very interesting to work at URBINCASA because creativity and new initiatives are encouraged and this is what we workers, with an inquiring mind, greatly appreciate. We hope to be useful by providing valuable information to our followers).
Till the next coffee break!
