Today we want to introduce you Daniel Seijo, Urbincasa computer expert, very hard to get for an interview. Dani, as we call him, is in charge of our company IT, for us to work efficiently and without troubles. But better let him explain us his day to day at the office…
Dani, what does your job consist of?
Well, I carry out different kinds of tasks such as programming, data analyse, reports elaboration, suggestions for improvement, etc. But the main one, in my opinion, is the computer system management and maintenance in order we all can work properly.
In your opinion, which element regarding IT job should always be present in a company?
Colleagues involvement is key. One can develop the best software or IT system, but it will only work if workers have a good attitude, if they are ready for change and interested in it, and that is with what we, computer experts, have to deal every day.
How often do your workmates call you to solve a problem?
Fortunately, less and less, which means I am doing well. It lets me focus on other tasks apart from users technical assistance.
How long have you been working for Urbincasa? How did you get to the company?
I have lived in “Urbincasa neighbourhood since I was a kid, so I know the company well. Once I got my university degree, in the height of the recession, I started working for my family company. After a while I heard Urbincasa was searching for an IT department manager and I applied for the post. After a boring selection process, I succeeded in getting the job. It happened in 2011.
Can you remember any funny story related to your workmates and IT troubles?
Sure! In fact, I could write a book with my workmates sentences. This very morning, for instance, I have been called by one of them. She had a trouble with the printer and could not print some documents, and she complained about an error message: “the printer is telling me I have no connection with the printer”
Now we know a bit more about your work, we would like to get to know you better
Your favourite music: I live in a very quiet place, so the best music to listen to when I get home after a long day at the office is the birds singing. But if I decide to listen to music, I often go for dance music.
A summer plan: Sailing to spend the day in a clear water cove.
And when it is cold outside? A film view at home, under a cozy blanket, and a bowl of popcorns.
How do you drink your coffee? I like very hot white coffee served in a cup.
Your home scent: It is usually fresh lemons, but we are having some works done, so it smells something like plastic paint right now
A book: “The Lord of The Rings”.
A film: “Gladiator”.
At home there is always…: Some cheese.
An aphorism: “All the battles in life teach us something, even those we lose”
