In total, there are twelve flags Q of Touristic Quality waving since las month of July in the beaches of Cartagena, coinciding with last year’s ones: Cala Cortina, Levante beach of Cabo de Palos, Barco Perdido (La Manga), Galúa (La Manga), Cala del Pino (La Manga), Playa of Cavanna (La Manga), la Gola (La Manga), Playa Honda, Mar de Cristal, Playa de Levante of Islas Menores, Playa Paraiso, and the recent San Ginés of La Azohía.
Since 2016 crisis, the conditions have improved drastically due to the important measures that are being taken to stop new episodes of water pollution in Mar Menor. So, the water has again a great transparency and it can be seen again, after 40 years, seahorses and other species such as fan mussel, disappeared in almost the whole Mediterranean Sea, spread on its sea bottom.
Besides, if something characterises our beloved Mar Menor is the shallowness of its water, which makes its beaches the best option to go with little children o for those who prefer a calm bath. A perfect plan for this summer could be a getaway to playa Paraíso. Located in a privileged place, by the Marchamalo salt mines, offering almost a kilometre of beach (with easy accessibility) with all the services: umbrella and hammock rent, toilets, children play area etc.
